Well, it's springtime again, and with the sprouting of buttercups and the
blooming of dogwoods comes a new beginning for this writer of Southern-fried
Horror.
After a long hiatus from writing that has nearly spanned a dozen years, I'm
finally seeing my work on the printed page again. Needless to say, this is an
exciting time for me and my family, and hopefully for my fans, both old and
new.
Here are a few new releases you may be interested in checking out.
Flesh Welder — This signed limited edition chapbook was just
released and is now available from Croatoan Publishing. This publication
includes the original "Flesh Welder" novella in its entirety,
an in-depth interview conducted by Mark Hickerson, an excerpt from my
upcoming werewolf novel, Undertaker's Moon, and a special signature
page illustrated by master horror artist Alex McVey. All copies are signed by
myself and cover artist/designer Zach McCain. This edition is limited to
250 and may be ordered through the store at www.croatoanpublishing.com.
Note: As of mid-April, this chapbook has officially SOLD OUT.
Also coming soon from Croatoan will be an audio version of FLESH WELDER,
performed by voice talent Wayne June. Keep an eye on the Croatoan
website for more details!
Tanglewood — This chapbook was recently published by
Cemetery Dance Publications. This original novella of horrifying
happenings on a lonesome country road was one of the first pieces of
fiction I wrote following my return to the horror genre. Alas, this was
released as a promotional chapbook for subscribers of Cemetery Dance
only and not for sale to the general public, but I have seen it for sell
on eBay during the past month, so it is available online through that
venue. This chapbook features a disturbing cover by artist Keith Minnion
and was limited to 500 signed and numbered copies.
Mister Mack & the Monster Mobile — During the month of
April, I will be the featured author in Horror World's fiction section.
My offering will be an original short story titled "Mister Mack
& the Monster Mobile," a disturbing tale of two boys and their
chance encounter with a traveling collector of monster movie
memorabilia. You can read this story at www.horrorworld.org.
Also, coming later this year
HYPERICON 4 — Along with Literary Guest of Honor Joe R.
Lansdale and Artist Guest of Honor Alex McVey, I will be a featured
guest at this year's Hypericon 4 in Nashville, Tennessee on June 27-29.
My activities during the 3-day festivities will include several panels
(including a Croatoan Publishing panel featuring founder Steven Lloyd
and a host of Croatoan contributors), a reading, and a book signing. You
can find out more at www.hypericon.info. Hope to see
ya'll there!
Undertaker's Moon — The limited edition hardcover of
my Irish werewolf novel (formerly Moon of the Werewolf)will be released
by Croatoan this coming autumn. This edition will be chocked full of
great features which includes the original novel, a behind-the-scenes
article on how I came to write UM, and a previously-unpublished prequel
novella titled "The Spawn of Arget Bethir."
Add horrifyingly hirsute cover and interior illustrations by Alex McVey and you
have a special edition that'll sink its fangs into you and refuse to let go.
Hell Hollow and Midnight Grinding & Other
Twilight Terrors — If all goes well, you may be seeing
these two new projects from Cemetery Dance Publications by the end of
2008. Hell Hollow, my first original novel since my return to the
horror genre, will be released in a signed limited hardcover.
Midnight Grinding & Other Twilight Terrors, my first
honest-to-goodness short story collection, featuring thirty-two tales of
Southern terror, will also be offered as a signed limited. Both projects
will showcase full-color cover and frontispiece illustrations by Alex
McVey.
So, a lot of exciting projects coming your way this year, along with even
more lined up for 2009 and beyond. Hope ya'll enjoy reading 'em as much
as I enjoyed spinning 'em!
